Vacation Bible School

2019 VBS By the Numbers:
37 Children attended
10 Teens helped
37 Adults helped
$357 was collected for a memorial for the family of Becky Lebron
2 boxes of items were collected for Farmers Feeding Farmers
1 box of items was collected for the Farmington Food Pantry

VBS has long been an important outreach project for our church.  July 28 through August 1, 2019, we partnered with the First Baptist Church of Farmington, United Methodist Church of Farmington, and Faith Presbyterian Church of Yates City.  Our theme this year was To Mars and Beyond!  Each evening began with a meal, and, once their stomachs were full, the fun began. Everyone gathered for an opening skit that gave the power launcher for the evening.  Children then participated in  music, bible story, crafts, recreation, and a reflection time.  The night ended with everyone sharing a delicious snack.  The Vector Verse for the entire program was Glory to God who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us, Ephesians 3:20. Each night students discovered their power from God by practicing a Power Launcher:
Go Beyond with Faith!
Go Beyond with Boldness!
Go Beyond with Kindness!
Go Beyond with Thankfulness!
Go Beyond with Hope!
The final night, the children  performed songs in a short program to culminate the VBS activities..

Our first mission project for VBS To Mars and Beyond was the Farmers Feeding Farmers program. We partnered with the Farmington school district to collect items to support this program. Each night, children placed items into a cardboard rocket as they entered the door.  They filled it by the end of the week and were so happy. This program ensures that no student goes home for the weekend worried if they will have enough to eat.  The school places items in identified students backpacks to take home for the weekend. It is a very worthwhile project.

Our second mission project for VBS was collecting funds to give as a memorial to the family of Becky Lebron.  Becky was a member of our VBS team who lost a courageous battle to cancer this year.  We wanted to pay tribute to her many years of service to the children of this community.  We were able to collect $357 during the week.

Spreading the love of Christ!!!!  That is what we are all about!  This one week event allowed us to touch the lives of approximately 50 students!
The 40 participating adults were the recipients of an infinite number of smiles, hugs, and laughs.

14 Teens helped
40 Adults helped

VBS has long been an important outreach project for our church.  July 29 through August 2, 2018, we partnered with the First Baptist Church of Farmington, United Methodist Church of Farmington, and Faith Presbyterian Church of Yates City.  Each evening began with a meal, and, once their stomachs were full, the fun began. Everyone gathered for an opening skit that gave the mission for the evening.  Children then participated in  music, bible story, crafts, recreation, and a reflection time.  The night ended with everyone sharing a delicious snack.  The Hero Verse for the entire program was “Do good! Seek peace and go after it! “  Each night students discovered their strength in God by practicing a Hero Code:
God’s heroes have heart.
God’s heroes have courage.
God’s heroes have wisdom.
God’s heroes have hope.
God’s heroes have power.
The final night, the children wore their superhero costumes and performed songs in a short program to culminate the program.

Our mission project for VBS Hero Central was the Farmers Feeding Farmers program. We partnered with the Farmington school district to provide funds and items to support this program. Each night, children placed items into a cardboard Batmobile as they entered the door.  They filled it by the end of the week and were so happy. This program ensures that no student goes home for the weekend worried if they will have enough to eat.  The school places items in identified students backpacks to take home for the weekend. It is a very worthwhile project.

Spreading the love of Christ!!!!  That is what we are all about!  This one week event allowed us to touch of lives of approximately 80 students!
The 40 participating adults were the recipients of an infinite number of smiles, hugs, and laughs.

2017 VBS Info:
75 children attended

19 teens helped
Over $225 was raised for Hearts for Addie in addition to a sizable donation to the Farmington Food Pantry!

VBS has long been an important outreach for our church. July 17 – 21, 2016, we partnered with the First Baptist Church of Farmington and Faith Presbyterian Church of Yates City. Each evening supper and later in the evening snacks were provided for 68 to 77 children. Once their stomachs were full and energy level up the fun began! The children loved the food, music, crafts, recreation and learned about how Jesus gives us Hope, Courage, Direction, Love and Power. We also focused on who God is (our Father in Heaven) and who Jesus is (God’s son) and how we are all brothers and sisters in Christ… A Family!!

Our two mission projects were about helping families. We filled the cave with canned food which was donated to the local food pantry to help families in need. The second mission was Hearts for Adi. This organization was founded by a local couple Mike and Danielle Nelson whose baby daughter had a heart defect at birth and lost her fight for life after 22 days. The Nelsons started Hearts for Adi in memory of their daughter. The donations provide meal and gas cards, stuffed animals and other needed supplies to families whose babies are in the NICU and PICU at OSF St. Francis hospital. The nightly offerings went to Hearts for Adi and the children donated 221 food items for the food pantry.

We were able to provide each child that attended Bible School their very own small New Testament Bible thanks to the generosity of Gideons International. It truly touches the heart when parents post pictures on Facebook of their children reading their bibles that we gave them!

Spreading the love of Christ!!!! That is what we are all about! This one week event allowed us to touch the lives of approximately 83 children and 22 teen helpers!
