2024 Mission Initiative Grant
Posted September 2024:
Feed the Faith Group was awarded the Mission Initiative Grant from Synod of Lincoln Trails. The Grant is for $1,500 which will help towards the Feed the Faith Mission
This mission was started as a two-fold idea; first to help anyone that may benefit from a meal and second to evangelize to those in the community and not just the parishioners in the church.
We provide a home cooked meal ready to eat, refrigerate or freeze meal and a hand written note stating that the meal was made with love at the First Presbyterian of Farmington and give a bible verse. The hope is to plant the “mustard seed”. Even if the person never crosses the threshold to our church we hope that if they do not have a current church or relationship with God this will spark something that will help guide them to seek a relationship with God. We meet once a month to plan the meal and buy the ingredients and once a month to prepare and deliver the meal, usually after church around the end of each month.
The Group has provided meals monthly since February 2024, the meals have each been different ranging from Mostaccioli, Chicken Wild Rice Casserole, Ham and Potato Casserole, and more for the main course with sides being various salads and bread/rolls. Then the dessert has been different each month as well: chocolate cream dessert, cherry dessert, brownie/cookie bars, lemon bars, or caramel cake to name a few.
The group has provided meals to the following number of people:
The meals have been provided to the recipients for various reasons such as: recent deaths in their family, birth of a child, surgery, loss of a job or any hardship, new job, new house, marriage, illness and elderly that live alone or do not have family around.
We never say “No” and have delivered to area towns and communities as well. We try to use bible verses that encourage and
uplift and also are not the very well known verses so may be people might want to look up the verse and read further. August was Zephaniah 3:17 “ The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save: he will rejoice over you with gladness: he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
